I'm a lifelong learner, creativity champion and expert in creativity. I have a passion for helping educators and children develop their creative confidence and creative thinking skills which translates into improved creative problem solving skills, creative expression, and a love for learning across all STEAM domains. I am a master teacher and administrator at Barron Park Preschool in Palo Alto which follows the emerging interests of children in a true play-based environment.
I have an M.S. in Creativity and Change Leadership from Buffalo State College, a B.S. in Business Marketing from San Jose State University, and a California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit.
I most recently presented a workshop on supporting childhood creativity at the 2023 CAAEYC Conference in Santa Clara. I have also presented and co-presented on creativity for NAEYC, CAAEYC, CQEL, as well as other State and local educational organizations. I also facilitate hands-on workshops for ECE teachers and students called Educator Exploration Days presented by Barron Park Preschool.
I have a unique perspective on creative processes, personal creativity, creative environments, and their synergy to improve or inhibit creativity.
My life experiences include being a marketing director, busboy, graphic designer, preschool teacher, school administrator, creative director, sales representative, paperboy, ice cream scooper, and customer service manager. My firsthand experience developing marketing campaigns using the Design Thinking creative process and being in the classroom with young children gives me a unique understanding for the need to support children's creative confidence and creative thinking skills.
“Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status”
